Established on the Foundation of Basic Fonts

In the 1980s, during a time when personal computers were beginning to be popular, DynaComware took the lead in developing Chinese fonts such as the Ming, Hei, Kai, and Yuan fonts to meet the demands of documentation requirement. Until this day, these fonts are still commonly seen in everyday life for all sorts of designs and purposes.

Expanding the DynaFont library with Calligraphy font

With the foundation structured on basic fonts, the design team turned their attention to ancient texts, scanning and analyzing texts from writings on tombstones and books to complete the vintage fonts in use today, such as Yen Chen Ching, WeiBei, and Shou Chin font.

Leading the Trend of Fonts by Reinterpreting Classic Calligraphy Writings

With experience in calligraphy design, the team attempted to add personal creativity to the ancient fonts. In an age where fonts were still directly copied and digitized, this idea was both bold and innovative and set the future direction for the company. For instance, the Tang Feng Li Shu font is a combination of the wide structure of the ancient and humble Li font with the rounded and plump characteristics of Tang court ladies. The designs of DynaFont became leaders of trends in the font world and a standard for the font design of today's world.

Personalized Fonts: Giving Meaning and Expression to Type

After accumulating experiences in the previous three stages, DynaComware continues to march toward a new milestone. Inspired by personal creativity, the designers of DynaComware created original designs on their own, giving birth to a series of playful and expressive fonts. Artistic fonts such as DF POP, or the DFPGirl are both works created by DynaComware during this period.

Innovation Inspired by the Classic Discovering of Cultural Depth from Ancient Texts

After 2004, the development of DynaFont entered full bloom. The design team adopted themes as developmental direction and designers recreated the historical settings inspired by classical calligraphy. The design of the “Romance Series” was created from the calligraphy commonly used in books, signboards, and posters during the early Showa Period in Japan. Through the characteristic design of the fonts, the design gives the sensation of the image of the “romantic Taisho Period” and “modern Showa Period,” awakening the sense of nostalgia. The design of the “Rare Books Series” was inspired by the collection of rare books of the National Palace Museum, creating precious fonts that combine vintage with innovation and allow the experience of ancient aesthetics even when using displays in our modern world today.

Apart from introducing different original fonts such as Hannotate and HanziPen, DynaComware also strives to develop the “UD Font Series” with higher readability, legibility, and recognizability, to be used by people all around the world. In addition, the release of the “Multi-Language Series,” designed for the Tokyo Olympics, hopes to contribute to the development of font culture.
DynaComware will continue to strive for excellence and quality in our font design and technology, and to bring better font solution for our users. We are proud to be the largest font house in Asia and will continue to focus on refining each and every font solution so that the beauty of fonts and the cultural depth of our legacy will be passed down to the next generation.
